어쌔신 크리드: 로그는 어쌔신 크리드 3/4/프리덤 크라이에 이은 마지막 켄웨이 사가 작품으로, 시기적으로 과거파트는 4편 대해적시대 이후와 3편 미국 독립 전쟁 중간 시기를 다루고 있으며 현대파트는 4편 블랙플래그 이후를 다루고 있다. 어쌔신 크리드: 유니티와 동시에 발매되어서 최후반부에 약간의 스토리적 정점이 있고, 3에서 암살단이 왜 그런 꼴이였는지 다루고 있으며 프리덤 크라이 이후의 아드왈레에 대해서도 등장하기에 스토리를 굉장히 중요시하는 사람이라면 구매가 필수적인 타이틀이다. 시기가 시기다보니 아드왈레, 헤이담 켄웨이, 아킬레스 대번포트, 벤자민 프랭클린 같은 반가운 인물들이 몇명 등장하기도.

시스템 자체는 블랙플래그를 그대로 가져와서 겉모습만 바꾼 게임이다. 인터페이스나 항해는 큰 차이점이 없고 오히려 그래픽적으로는 블랙플래그 보다 다운그레이드 된 느낌이었다. 약간의 조작법이나 주인공 "셰이 패트릭 코맥"만의 전투 액션 말고는 바뀐게 없다. 파쿠르나
로딩화면, 게임의 구성은 그냥 어쌔신크리드 블랙플래그랑 똑같다고 보면 된다. 다만 어쌔신크리드 로그만의 장점이 있는데 바로 지금까지는 없었던 특색있는 스토리라는 것이다. 어쌔신크리드 로그는 이전과는 다른 방식의 스토리와 게임 방식을 풀어나갔는데. 주인공이 암살단에 가입해 암살자가 되가는 과정이 아닌 이미 숙련된 암살자가 배신을 하여 템플기사단에 들어가는 이야기이다. 이 작품에서는 본래 암살단의 신조와는 다르게 변질되가는 북미 암살단이 등장하는데 상당히 극단적이고 막장으로 묘사해 놨다. 오히려 템플 기사단은 그런 암살단을 막는 내용으로서 유저들로 하여금 주인공에게 몰입을 할 수 있게 장치를 마련해놨다. 주인공이 템플러인 만큼 인게임 내에서도 이색적인 시스템이 몇가지 있는데 제일 인상깊었던건 맵 곳곳을 다닐 때 셰이를 암살하기 위한 "추적자"들이다. 이 추적자들은 풀숲이나 건물에 숨어서 주인공을 급습을 하는데 상당히 짜증났던 시스템이지만 인상깊기도 했다. 그 외에도 플레이어가 암살하는 대상이 암살단의 주요 인물이라는 것도 나름 신선했다. 현대파트의 비중은 생각보다 많았으며 전작 어쌔신 크리드 블랙플래그보다는 이야기 진행도 매끄럽고 몰입을 방해하지 않을 만큼 등장해서 괜찮았다.
