기존 에이지 오브 엠파이어 3 에서 크게 발전했습니다. 그래픽, 사운드, 인터페이스 등이 매우 크게 개선되어 더 깔끔한 그래픽, 더 쉽고 편리해진 인터페이스 등이 강점이나, 때때로 프레임 드랍이 발생하는 아쉬움이 있습니다. 이 부분은 해결되었으면 좋겠네요. 개인적으로는 기존 시리즈 대비 확실히 빨라진 진행 속도, 비교적 현대전에 가까운 플레이, 더 나은 타격감 등으로 매우 좋아하는 작품이었는데 개선판이 등장해서 좋습니다. 간헐적인 프레임 드랍 이슈로 인해 별5개 만점에서 4개 주겠습니다!

-전작들 처럼 AoE3도 리마스터 및 개선을 한 Definitive Edition (이하 국내 정발명인 결정판이라 칭함.) 이 나오게 되었다.
AoE3 오리지날의 경우 전작들 보다는 아쉬운 평가가 많기는 하지만 , 어느정도의 눈가림 효과가 적용된 점을 감안해도 우수한 비주얼 및 그럭저럭 좋은 연출의 '본편' 캠페인이 있었다. 역사를 알고 있는 상태에서보면 판타지와 같은 수준의 스토리였지만 어린 시절에는 크게 신경을 쓰지 않았지만...
